These are phenolic compounds containing one anthocyanidin moiety which is O-glycosidically linked to a carbohydrate moiety at the C3-position. Peonidin 3-xyloside is a polyphenol metabolite detected in biological fluids. Peonidin 3-xyloside is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
