Common NamePGP(18:0/22:6(4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z))
DescriptionPGP(18:0/22:6(4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)), also known as PGP(18:0/22:6) Or PGP(40:6), Belongs to the class of organic compounds known as phosphatidylglycerophosphates. These are glycerophosphoglycerophosphates in which two fatty acids are bonded to the 1-glycerol moiety through ester linkages. It is a glycerophospholipid in which a phosphoglycerol moiety occupies a glycerol substitution site followed by another phosphate moiety. PGP(18:0/22:6(4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)) is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). PGP(18:0/22:6(4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)), in particular, consists of one chain of stearic acid at the C-1 position and one chain of docosahexaenoic acid at the C-2 position. Finally, phosphatidylglycerol is formed by the action of specific phosphatases. It was first documented in 1995 (PMID: 7834746). It is well established that the concentration of Phosphatidylglycerolphosphate increases during fetal development (PMID: 11413487) (PMID: 16902246) (PMID: 17374880) (PMID: 20044567).
