| Description | Quinolin-4-ol, also known as 4-chinolinol, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as hydroquinolones. Hydroquinolones are compounds containing a hydrogenated quinoline bearing a ketone group. Quinolin-4-ol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). 4-Quinolinol was first documented in 1946 (PMID: 20990977). A monohydroxyquinoline carrying a hydroxy group at position 4. |
