Common NameButyramide
DescriptionButyramide, also known as C3H7C(O)NH2 or N-butanamide, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as fatty amides. These are carboxylic acid amide derivatives of fatty acids, that are formed from a fatty acid and an amine. Thus, butyramide is considered to be a fatty amide lipid molecule. A monocarboxylic acid amide obtained by formal condensation of butanoic acid and ammonia. Butyramide is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Butyramide is a nutty tasting compound. It was first documented in 2000 (PMID: 11413487). Outside of the human body, (PMID: 16902246) (PMID: 17374880) (PMID: 20044567).
