Glycosyl-amino acids are compounds consisting of saccharide linked through a glycosyl linkage (O-, N-, or S-) to an amino acid. 4-{[5-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methoxy-3-oxocyclohex-1-en-1-yl]amino}-5-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}pentanoic acid is found in Ascochyta pisi. 4-{[5-Hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methoxy-3-oxocyclohex-1-en-1-yl]amino}-5-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}pentanoic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
