Description(22E,24R)-3beta,5alpha,9alpha-trihydroxyergosta-7,22-dien-6-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as ergosterols and derivatives. These are steroids containing ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3beta-ol or a derivative thereof, which is based on the 3beta-hydroxylated ergostane skeleton. Thus, (22E,24R)-3beta,5alpha,9alpha-trihydroxyergosta-7,22-dien-6-one is considered to be a sterol. (1r,3ar,5ar,7s,9ar,9br,11ar)-1-[(2r,3e,5r)-5,6-dimethylhept-3-en-2-yl]-5a,7,9b-trihydroxy-9a,11a-dimethyl-1h,2h,3h,3ah,6h,7h,8h,9h,10h,11h-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-5-one is found in Agaricus blazei, Aspergillus ochraceus, Ganoderma applanatum, Grifola frondosa, Pleurotus eryngii, Sarcodon scabrosus, Trametes versicolor and Tricholoma matsutake. (1r,3ar,5ar,7s,9ar,9br,11ar)-1-[(2r,3e,5r)-5,6-dimethylhept-3-en-2-yl]-5a,7,9b-trihydroxy-9a,11a-dimethyl-1h,2h,3h,3ah,6h,7h,8h,9h,10h,11h-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-5-one was first documented in 2011 (PMID: 21941888). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (22E,24R)-3beta,5alpha,9alpha-trihydroxyergosta-7,22-dien-6-one.
