These are lignan compounds containing a 2,3-dibenzylbutane-1,4-diol moiety. 4-{4-hydroxy-3-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methyl]-2-(hydroxymethyl)butyl}benzene-1,2-diol is found in Taxus baccata. 4-{4-Hydroxy-3-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methyl]-2-(hydroxymethyl)butyl}benzene-1,2-diol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
