| Description | Salacin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as indolines. Indolines are compounds containing an indole moiety, which consists of pyrrolidine ring fused to benzene to form 2,3-dihydroindole. (2's,3s)-2-hydroxy-2'-(3-oxopentyl)spiro[indole-3,3'-pyrrolidine]-1'-carbaldehyde is found in Uncaria attenuata. (2's,3s)-2-hydroxy-2'-(3-oxopentyl)spiro[indole-3,3'-pyrrolidine]-1'-carbaldehyde was first documented in 2005 (PMID: 17191985). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on Salacin (PMID: 29369438) (PMID: 22591976). |
