These are aromatic compounds containing a ketone substituted by one alkyl group, and a phenyl group. 3-[(2-acetyl-3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)methyl]-6,8-dihydroxy-3,4-dihydro-2-benzopyran-1-one is found in Aloe castellorum and Aloe ferox. 3-[(2-Acetyl-3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)methyl]-6,8-dihydroxy-3,4-dihydro-1H-2-benzopyran-1-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
