These are c28 steroids structurally characterized by an ergostane skeleton usually functionalized at carbons 1, 22 and 26 to form a lactone ring. 15-(1-{1,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-3,7-dioxabicyclo[4.1.0]heptan-4-yl}ethyl)-12,15-dihydroxy-2,16-dimethyl-8-oxapentacyclo[9.7.0.0²,⁷.0⁷,⁹.0¹²,¹⁶]octadecan-3-one is found in Jaborosa bergii. 15-(1-{1,6-Dimethyl-2-oxo-3,7-dioxabicyclo[4.1.0]Heptan-4-yl}ethyl)-12,15-dihydroxy-2,16-dimethyl-8-oxapentacyclo[9.7.0.0²,⁷.0⁷,⁹.0¹²,¹⁶]Octadecan-3-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
