DescriptionAntibiotic LL Z1640-4 belongs to the class of organic compounds known as macrolides and analogues. These are organic compounds containing a lactone ring of at least twelve members. 7,8,9,16-tetrahydroxy-14-methoxy-3-methyl-3,4,7,8,9,10-hexahydro-2-benzoxacyclotetradecin-1-one is found in Curvularia lunata and Curvularia portulacae. Antibiotic LL Z1640-4 is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
