Catechols are compounds containing a 1,2-benzenediol moiety. 3-Heptadecylcatechol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). It was first documented in 1984 (PMID: 6231243). Catechol substituted at position 3 with a heptadecyl group (PMID: 3742608).
