Description9-Hydroxy-5,9,13-trimethyl-16-methylidene-15-oxo-4,14-dioxatricyclo[11.3.2.0³,⁵]Octadec-7-en-12-yl acetate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as lactones. These are cyclic esters of hydroxy carboxylic acids, containing a 1-oxacycloalkan-2-one structure, or analogues having unsaturation or heteroatoms replacing one or more carbon atoms of the ring. 9-hydroxy-5,9,13-trimethyl-16-methylidene-15-oxo-4,14-dioxatricyclo[11.3.2.0³,⁵]octadec-7-en-12-yl acetate is found in Sinularia flexibilis and Sinularia querciformis. 9-Hydroxy-5,9,13-trimethyl-16-methylidene-15-oxo-4,14-dioxatricyclo[11.3.2.0³,⁵]Octadec-7-en-12-yl acetate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
