DescriptionCerebroside C belongs to the class of organic compounds known as glycosyl-n-acylsphingosines. Glycosyl-N-acylsphingosines are compounds containing a sphingosine linked to a simple glucosyl moiety. (2r,3e)-2-hydroxy-n-[(2s,3r,4e,8e)-3-hydroxy-9-methyl-1-{[(2r,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}octadeca-4,8-dien-2-yl]octadec-3-enimidic acid is found in Azadirachta indica. (2r,3e)-2-hydroxy-n-[(2s,3r,4e,8e)-3-hydroxy-9-methyl-1-{[(2r,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}octadeca-4,8-dien-2-yl]octadec-3-enimidic acid was first documented in 2012 (PMID: 22692953). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on Cerebroside C (PMID: 32924363) (PMID: 32281350) (PMID: 24273851) (PMID: 24058471).
