DescriptionShoreic acid, also known as shoreate, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as diterpene glycosides. These are diterpenoids in which an isoprene unit is glycosylated. 3-{3-[5-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-2-methyloxolan-2-yl]-6,9a,9b-trimethyl-7-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-decahydrocyclopenta[a]naphthalen-6-yl}propanoic acid is found in Aglaia abbreviata, Aglaia forbesii, Aglaia foveolata, Aglaia perviridis, Aglaia rubiginosa, Aglaia silvestris, Cabralea canjerana, Dysoxylum lenticellatum and Dysoxylum malabaricum. Shoreic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
