| Common Name | 5-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-7-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}chromen-4-one |

| Description | Tricin 7-O-beta-D-glucoside, also known as 7-O-beta-D-glucosyltricin or tricin 7-β-D-glucopyranoside, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonoid-7-o-glycosides. These are phenolic compounds containing a flavonoid moiety which is O-glycosidically linked to carbohydrate moiety at the C7-position. Thus, tricin 7-O-beta-D-glucoside is considered to be a flavonoid. Tricin 7-O-beta-D-glucoside is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. 5-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-7-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}chromen-4-one is found in Arrhenatherum elatius, Carex fraseriana, Halostachys caspica, Hyparrhenia hirta, Itoa orientalis, Phoenix canariensis, Phoenix loureiroi, Phoenix rupicola, Poa secunda, Ranunculus sieboldii, Rhodiola rosea, Salsola collina, Scorodocarpus borneensis, Sedum sarmentosum, Setaria italica and Turnera diffusa. 5-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-7-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}chromen-4-one was first documented in 2000 (PMID: 11204184). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on tricin 7-O-beta-D-glucoside (PMID: 17366736). |
