Naphthalenes are compounds containing a naphthalene moiety, which consists of two fused benzene rings. 8,8'-dihydroxy-4,4'-dimethoxy-6,6'-dimethyl-[2,2'-binaphthalenylidene]-1,1'-dione is found in Diospyros buxifolia, Diospyros dendo, Diospyros ferrea and Diospyros melanoxylon. 8,8'-Dihydroxy-4,4'-dimethoxy-6,6'-dimethyl-1H,1'H-[2,2'-binaphthalenylidene]-1,1'-dione is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
