Hydroxycinnamic acids and derivatives are compounds containing an cinnamic acid (or a derivative thereof) where the benzene ring is hydroxylated. 4-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-{[(4-hydroxyphenyl)methyl]amino}but-3-en-2-one is found in Cocculus orbiculatus and Fissistigma glaucescens. 4-(4-Hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-{[(4-hydroxyphenyl)methyl]amino}but-3-en-2-one is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa).
