| Description | Okaramine E belongs to the class of organic compounds known as pyrroloindoles. Pyrroloindoles are compounds containing a pyrroloindole moiety, which is a tricyclic heterocycle which consists of a pyrrole ring fused to an indole. Pyrrole is 5-membered ring consisting of four carbon atoms and one nitrogen atom. Indole is a bicyclic compound consisting of a six-membered benzene ring fused to a five-membered nitrogen-containing pyrrole ring. (1z,4s,5r,14r,16r,19z)-14-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-6,6,21,21-tetramethyl-3,7,18,23-tetraazaoctacyclo[16.13.0.0³,¹⁶.0⁴,⁷.0⁴,¹⁴.0⁸,¹³.0²²,³⁰.0²⁴,²⁹]hentriaconta-1(31),8,10,12,19,22(30),24,26,28-nonaene-2,17-dione is found in Penicillium simplicissimum. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Okaramine E. |
