Naphthoquinones are compounds containing a naphthohydroquinone moiety, which consists of a benzene ring linearly fused to a bezene-1,4-dione (quinone). 2-ethyl-3,5,8-trihydroxy-6-methoxy-7-methylnaphthalene-1,4-dione is found in Cladonia cristatella. 2-Ethyl-3,5,8-trihydroxy-6-methoxy-7-methyl-1,4-dihydronaphthalene-1,4-dione is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
