| Description | Merrillianolide belongs to the class of organic compounds known as lactones. These are cyclic esters of hydroxy carboxylic acids, containing a 1-oxacycloalkan-2-one structure, or analogues having unsaturation or heteroatoms replacing one or more carbon atoms of the ring. (1r,2s,5s,6r,10r,13r)-2,5,10,13-tetrahydroxy-2,6,13-trimethyl-8-oxatricyclo[4.4.3.0¹,⁵]tridecane-9,12-dione was first documented in 2010 (PMID: 19670158). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Merrillianolide. |
