Common Name2-hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-10-methylidene-7-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-3h,6ah,7h,8h,9h,10ah-cyclohexa[e]azulene-1,4-dione
Description2-Hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-10-methylidene-7-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-1H,2H,3H,4H,6aH,7H,8H,9H,10H,10aH-cyclohexa[e]azulene-1,4-dione belongs to the class of organic compounds known as rhamnofolane and daphnane diterpenoids. These are diterpenoids with a structure based on one the rhamnofolane or daphnane skeleton. The rhamnofolane and daphnane skeletons are closely related, being formally derived from casbane by two cyclizations (6,10 and 5,14) followed by cleavage of the 1,15 (daphnane) or 2,15 (rhamnofolane) cyclopropane bonds. 2-hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-10-methylidene-7-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-3h,6ah,7h,8h,9h,10ah-cyclohexa[e]azulene-1,4-dione is found in Jatropha curcas and Joannesia princeps. 2-Hydroxy-2,5-dimethyl-10-methylidene-7-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-1H,2H,3H,4H,6aH,7H,8H,9H,10H,10aH-cyclohexa[e]azulene-1,4-dione is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
