Description3,4-Diformyl-4a,8,8-trimethyl-1,4,4a,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-1-yl acetate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as carboxylic acid esters. These are carboxylic acid derivatives in which the carbon atom from the carbonyl group is attached to an alkyl or an aryl moiety through an oxygen atom (forming an ester group). 3,4-diformyl-4a,8,8-trimethyl-1,4,5,6,7,8a-hexahydronaphthalen-1-yl acetate is found in Dendrodoris arborescens. 3,4-Diformyl-4a,8,8-trimethyl-1,4,4a,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-1-yl acetate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
