Description(3S,3aR,6S,6aS,9aR,9bR)-3-hydroxy-3-(hydroxymethyl)-6,9a-dimethyl-dodecahydroazuleno[4,5-b]furan-2,9-dione belongs to the class of organic compounds known as ambrosanolides and secoambrosanolides. These are sesquiterpene lactones from the Ambrosia family, with a backbone derivative of azuleno[6,5-b]furan-2-one (ambrosanolides) or azuleno[4,5-b]furan-2-one (secoambrosanolides). (3s,3ar,6s,6as,9ar,9br)-3-hydroxy-3-(hydroxymethyl)-6,9a-dimethyl-octahydroazuleno[4,5-b]furan-2,9-dione is found in Ambrosia polystachya. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on (3S,3aR,6S,6aS,9aR,9bR)-3-hydroxy-3-(hydroxymethyl)-6,9a-dimethyl-dodecahydroazuleno[4,5-b]furan-2,9-dione.
