These are diterpenoids in which an isoprene unit is glycosylated. 2-[(4-hydroxy-2-isopropyl-4b,8,8-trimethyl-5,6,7,8a,9,10-hexahydrophenanthren-3-yl)oxy]oxane-3,4,5-triol is found in Avicennia marina. 2-{[4-Hydroxy-4b,8,8-trimethyl-2-(propan-2-yl)-4b,5,6,7,8,8a,9,10-octahydrophenanthren-3-yl]oxy}oxane-3,4,5-triol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
