Description2-Methylfurfural belongs to the class of organic compounds known as dihydrofurans. Dihydrofurans are compounds containing a dihydrofuran moiety, which is a furan derivative with only one double bond. 2-methyl-3h-furan-2-carbaldehyde is found in Cynara cardunculus, Inula racemosa, Mangifera indica, Psidium guajava, Spondias mombin and Vaccinium virgatum. 2-methyl-3h-furan-2-carbaldehyde was first documented in 2010 (PMID: 21255332). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on 2-methylfurfural (PMID: 32391337) (PMID: 25088205).
