Description8-Epikingisidic acid, also known as 8-epikingisidate, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as o-glycosyl compounds. These are glycoside in which a sugar group is bonded through one carbon to another group via a O-glycosidic bond. (1s,4as,8r,8as)-8-methyl-6-oxo-1-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-1h,4ah,5h,8h,8ah-pyrano[3,4-c]pyran-4-carboxylic acid is found in Citronella gongonha, Ligustrum ovalifolium, Picconia excelsa and Syringa josikaea. (1s,4as,8r,8as)-8-methyl-6-oxo-1-{[(2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}-1h,4ah,5h,8h,8ah-pyrano[3,4-c]pyran-4-carboxylic acid was first documented in 2012 (PMID: 22293486). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 8-Epikingisidic acid (PMID: 24001714).
