DescriptionArtocarpanone A belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 7-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C7 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, artocarpanone a is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. Artocarpanone A is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Outside of the human body, Artocarpanone A has been detected, but not quantified in, fruits. 5-hydroxy-2-(2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzopyran-4-one is found in Artocarpus integer. This could make artocarpanone a a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
