These are aurone flavonoids in which the pyran ring of the aurone skeleton carries a hydroxyl group at the 2-position. 1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methyl]-2-(hydroxymethyl)-4-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}butan-1-one is found in Saussurea medusa. 1-(4-Hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methyl]-2-(hydroxymethyl)-4-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}butan-1-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
