| Description | Echitin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as flavonoid c-glycosides. Flavonoid C-glycosides are compounds containing a carbohydrate moiety which is C-glycosidically linked to the 2-phenylchromen-4-one flavonoid backbone. (2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-4,5-dihydroxy-2-[5-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-oxochromen-7-yl]-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-3-yl (2e)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-enoate is found in Echinops echinatus and Itoa orientalis. (2s,3r,4s,5s,6r)-4,5-dihydroxy-2-[5-hydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-oxochromen-7-yl]-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-3-yl (2e)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)prop-2-enoate was first documented in 2008 (PMID: 18412396). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Echitin. |
