These parents are beta-carbolines, consisting of a pyrimidine fused to the pyrrole moiety of an indole to form a pyrido[3,4-b]indole. 3-(3-{9h-pyrido[3,4-b]indol-1-yl}phenyl)prop-2-en-1-amine is found in Nitraria komarovii. 3-(3-{9H-pyrido[3,4-b]indol-1-yl}phenyl)prop-2-en-1-amine is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). |
