These are phenylpropanoids containing the 2-phenylbenzofuran moiety. 5-{5-[2-(3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]-2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-3-yl}benzene-1,3-diol is found in Gnetum macrostachyum and Gnetum parvifolium. 5-{5-[2-(3,5-Dihydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]-2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-3-yl}benzene-1,3-diol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
