Description5(S)-[1-(1(S)-hydroxybut-2-enyl)]-furan-2-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as butenolides. These are dihydrofurans with a carbonyl group at the C2 carbon atom. (5s)-5-[(1s,2e)-1-hydroxybut-2-en-1-yl]-5h-furan-2-one is found in Nigrospora sacchari, Hypomyces chrysospermus and Streptomyces griseoviridis. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 5(S)-[1-(1(S)-hydroxybut-2-enyl)]-furan-2-one.
