These are glycosylated derivatives of triterpene sapogenins. The sapogenin moiety backbone is usually based on the oleanane, ursane, taraxastane, bauerane, lanostane, lupeol, lupane, dammarane, cycloartane, friedelane, hopane, 9b,19-cyclo-lanostane, cycloartane, or cycloartanol skeleton. 2-({4,5-dihydroxy-6-[(2-{4-hydroxy-5a,5b,8,8,11a,13b-hexamethyl-9-[(3,4,5-trihydroxyoxan-2-yl)oxy]-hexadecahydrocyclopenta[a]chrysen-3-yl}propan-2-yl)oxy]-2-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-3-yl}oxy)-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol is found in Glinus lotoides. 2-({4,5-Dihydroxy-6-[(2-{4-hydroxy-1,2,9,14,18,18-hexamethyl-17-[(3,4,5-trihydroxyoxan-2-yl)oxy]pentacyclo[11.8.0.0²,¹⁰.0⁵,⁹.0¹⁴,¹⁹]Henicosan-6-yl}propan-2-yl)oxy]-2-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-3-yl}oxy)-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxane-3,4,5-triol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
