These are fatty acids with an aliphatic tail that contains between 4 and 12 carbon atoms. 5-(4-methoxy-5-methyl-6-oxopyran-2-yl)-3-methylhexa-2,4-dienoic acid is found in Alternaria infectoria and Leptosphaeria maculans. 5-(4-Methoxy-3-methyl-2-oxo-2H-pyran-6-yl)-3-methylhexa-2,4-dienoic acid is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
