| Description | Protoyonogenin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as steroidal saponins. These are saponins in which the aglycone moiety is a steroid. The steroidal aglycone is usually a spirostane, furostane, spirosolane, solanidane, or curcubitacin derivative. (1r,2s,4s,6r,7s,8r,9s,12s,13s,15s,16s,18r)-7,9,13-trimethyl-6-[(3r)-3-methyl-4-{[(2r,3r,4s,5s,6r)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}butyl]-5-oxapentacyclo[10.8.0.0²,⁹.0⁴,⁸.0¹³,¹⁸]icosane-6,15,16-triol is found in Dioscorea tokoro. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Protoyonogenin. |
