DescriptionNorambreinolide belongs to the class of organic compounds known as naphthofurans. Naphthofurans are compounds containing a furan ring fused to a naphthalene moiety. Furan is a 5 membered- ring aromatic ring with four carbon and one oxygen atoms. Naphthalene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon made up of two fused benzene rings. (3ar,9as,9br)-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethyl-octahydronaphtho[2,1-b]furan-2-one is found in Arnica angustifolia, Heliopsis helianthoides, Lindheimera texana and Salvia yosgadensis. (3ar,9as,9br)-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethyl-octahydronaphtho[2,1-b]furan-2-one was first documented in 2018 (PMID: 30179002). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Norambreinolide.
