Description3-[3-(Hydroxymethyl)-7-methoxy-2-(3-methoxy-4-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl]prop-2-enal belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 2-arylbenzofuran flavonoids. These are phenylpropanoids containing the 2-phenylbenzofuran moiety. 3-[3-(hydroxymethyl)-7-methoxy-2-(3-methoxy-4-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl]prop-2-enal is found in Balanophora japonica and Strychnos axillaris. 3-[3-(Hydroxymethyl)-7-methoxy-2-(3-methoxy-4-{[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]oxy}phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl]prop-2-enal is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
