Common Name(2r)-4-[({[(2r,3s,4r,5r)-5-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-hydroxy-3-(phosphonooxy)oxolan-2-yl]methoxy(hydroxy)phosphoryl}oxy(hydroxy)phosphoryl)oxy]-n-(2-{[2-(formylsulfanyl)ethyl]-c-hydroxycarbonimidoyl}ethyl)-2-hydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutanimidic acid
DescriptionFormyl-CoA, also known as formyl-coenzyme A, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as coenzyme a and derivatives. These are derivative of vitamin B5 containing a 4'-phosphopantetheine moiety attached to a diphospho-adenosine. An acyl-CoA that results from the formal condensation of the thiol group of coenzyme A with the carboxy group of formic acid. Formyl-CoA is a strong basic compound (based on its pKa). Formyl-CoA may be a unique E. Coli metabolite. (2r)-4-[({[(2r,3s,4r,5r)-5-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-hydroxy-3-(phosphonooxy)oxolan-2-yl]methoxy(hydroxy)phosphoryl}oxy(hydroxy)phosphoryl)oxy]-n-(2-{[2-(formylsulfanyl)ethyl]-c-hydroxycarbonimidoyl}ethyl)-2-hydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutanimidic acid is found in Apis cerana. (2r)-4-[({[(2r,3s,4r,5r)-5-(6-aminopurin-9-yl)-4-hydroxy-3-(phosphonooxy)oxolan-2-yl]methoxy(hydroxy)phosphoryl}oxy(hydroxy)phosphoryl)oxy]-n-(2-{[2-(formylsulfanyl)ethyl]-c-hydroxycarbonimidoyl}ethyl)-2-hydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutanimidic acid was first documented in 1997 (PMID: 9166898). In humans, formyl-CoA is involved in oxidation of branched-chain fatty acids (PMID: 10379198) (PMID: 10709654) (PMID: 11330072).
