Description5-Hydroxy-7,8-dimethoxyflavanone belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 8-o-methylated flavonoids. These are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C8 atom of the flavonoid backbone. Thus, 5-hydroxy-7,8-dimethoxyflavanone is considered to be a flavonoid lipid molecule. 5-hydroxy-7,8-dimethoxy-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1-benzopyran-4-one is found in Andrographis affinis, Andrographis lineata, Andrographis paniculata, Isodon oresbius, Miliusa balansae and Uvaria scheffleri. 5-Hydroxy-7,8-dimethoxyflavanone is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
