These are organic compounds containing a system of three linearly fused benzene rings. 6-[4,5-dihydroxy-2-(hydroxymethyl)-10-oxo-9h-anthracen-9-yl]-3,4,5-trihydroxyoxan-2-yl benzoate is found in Picramnia antidesma. 6-[4,5-Dihydroxy-2-(hydroxymethyl)-10-oxo-9,10-dihydroanthracen-9-yl]-3,4,5-trihydroxyoxan-2-yl benzoate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
