Description3-(2,6-Dihydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenylpropan-1-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as retro-dihydrochalcones. These are a form of normal dihydrochalcones that are structurally distinguished by the lack of oxygen functionalities at the C2'- and C6'-positions. 3-(2,6-dihydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenylpropan-1-one is found in Mitrella kentii, Piper aduncum and Populus laurifolia. 3-(2,6-Dihydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenylpropan-1-one is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
