| Description | 1,3,6-Trihydroxy-2-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone-3-O-(6'-O-acetyl)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1->2)-beta-D-glucopyranoside belongs to the class of organic compounds known as hydroxyanthraquinones. Hydroxyanthraquinones are compounds containing a hydroxyanthraquinone moiety, which consists of an anthracene bearing a quinone, and hydroxyl group. 1,3,6-Trihydroxy-2-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone-3-O-(6'-O-acetyl)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1->2)-beta-D-glucopyranoside is a secondary metabolite. Secondary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically non-essential metabolites that may serve a role as defense or signalling molecules. In some cases they are simply molecules that arise from the incomplete metabolism of other secondary metabolites. [(2r,3s,4s,5r,6s)-6-[(4,7-dihydroxy-3-methyl-9,10-dioxoanthracen-2-yl)oxy]-3,4-dihydroxy-5-{[(2s,3r,4r,5r,6s)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-methyloxan-2-yl]oxy}oxan-2-yl]methyl acetate is found in Rubia argyi, Rubia cordifolia, Rubia wallichiana and Rubia yunnanensis. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 1,3,6-trihydroxy-2-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone-3-O-(6'-O-acetyl)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1->2)-beta-D-glucopyranoside. |
