Naphthopyrans are compounds containing a pyran ring fused to a naphthalene moiety. Furan is a 6 membered-ring non-aromatic ring with five carbon and one oxygen atoms. Naphthalene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon made up of two fused benzene rings. (1r,2r,5r,6r,10s,13s,14s,16s)-16-[(1r)-1-(acetyloxy)-2-methoxy-2-oxoethyl]-6-(furan-3-yl)-1,5,15,15-tetramethyl-8,17-dioxo-7-oxatetracyclo[11.3.1.0²,¹¹.0⁵,¹⁰]heptadec-11-en-14-yl 2,3-dimethylbut-2-enoate is found in Swietenia mahagoni.
