| Description | Habenariol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as diphenylmethanes. Diphenylmethanes are compounds containing a diphenylmethane moiety, which consists of a methane wherein two hydrogen atoms are replaced by two phenyl groups. bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)methyl (2r)-2-ethyl-2-hydroxy-4-methylpentanoate is found in Habenaria repens and Micranthemum umbrosum. bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)methyl (2r)-2-ethyl-2-hydroxy-4-methylpentanoate was first documented in 1999 (PMID: 10190047). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on habenariol. |
