DescriptionErgosta-4,6,8,22-tetraen-3-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as ergosterols and derivatives. These are steroids containing ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3beta-ol or a derivative thereof, which is based on the 3beta-hydroxylated ergostane skeleton. (1r,3ar,9as,11ar)-1-[(2r,3e)-5,6-dimethylhept-3-en-2-yl]-9a,11a-dimethyl-1h,2h,3h,3ah,8h,9h,10h,11h-cyclopenta[a]phenanthren-7-one is found in Pleurotus ostreatus. It was first documented in 2008 (PMID: 23997609). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on ergosta-4,6,8,22-tetraen-3-one (PMID: 24930002) (PMID: 19967976).
