DescriptionTomentellin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as p-methoxybenzoic acids and derivatives. These are benzoic acids in which the hydrogen atom at position 4 of the benzene ring is replaced by a methoxy group. (2e)-3,7-dimethyl-5-oxoocta-2,6-dien-1-yl 3,4-dimethoxybenzoate is found in Trichocolea pluma and Trichocolea tomentella. It was first documented in 2000 (PMID: 10836737). Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Tomentellin.
