These are glycoside in which a sugar group is bonded through one carbon to another group via a C-glycosidic bond. 1-[3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]pentane-1,2,3,4,5-pentol is found in Diospyros nigra. 1-[3,4,5-Trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]pentane-1,2,3,4,5-pentol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa).
