| Description | 16-Hydroxycarnosol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as diterpene lactones. These are diterpenoids containing a lactone moiety. (1r,8s,10s)-3,4-dihydroxy-5-(1-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-11,11-dimethyl-16-oxatetracyclo[6.6.2.0¹,¹⁰.0²,⁷]hexadeca-2(7),3,5-trien-15-one is found in Salvia apiana, Salvia mellifera, Salvia munzii and Salvia rubescens. (1r,8s,10s)-3,4-dihydroxy-5-(1-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-11,11-dimethyl-16-oxatetracyclo[6.6.2.0¹,¹⁰.0²,⁷]hexadeca-2(7),3,5-trien-15-one was first documented in 2005 (PMID: 16327182). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on 16-hydroxycarnosol (PMID: 17190465) (PMID: 28025900). |
