Description | Lophotoxin belongs to the class of organic compounds known as macrolides and analogues. These are organic compounds containing a lactone ring of at least twelve members. (1r,2s,4s,10r,12s,14r,15r)-7-formyl-12-methyl-17-oxo-4-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-11,16,18,19-tetraoxapentacyclo[12.2.2.1⁶,⁹.0¹,¹⁵.0¹⁰,¹²]nonadeca-6,8-dien-2-yl acetate is found in Leptogorgia alba and Leptogorgia violacea. It was first documented in 2005 (PMID: 16032357). Based on a literature review a small amount of articles have been published on Lophotoxin (PMID: 18698819) (PMID: 17190454) (PMID: 15844963) (PMID: 35606558). |
